Tokyo Ministry…

We’re now in Tokyo and contrary to popular belief, we’re having a very relaxed ministry here.

Today, we joined the boys already ministering here for a time of prayer walking the campus at Waseda University. DSC01164.JPG It’s an incredible campus and I hear it’s larger than UCLA and doesn’t have a Christian presence to speak of.

Lord please change that. Change the spiritual climate there and begin to save many people.

We’re off to Yokohama Grace Bible Church tomorrow for morning service and afternoon/evening ministry.

Blessings!

Kids Camp & More…

So, we had a great kids camp! 21 of the kids made decisions for Jesus. Hallelujah. We’re still sorting through who was a first time decision and who renewed their commitment to Christ, but regardless, many of the children were non-Christian.

Enjoy a few photos. More will be coming later…

Sunday Ministry & Misery

What a strange title for a post! I know that’s what you’re thinking. But let me explain.

DSC01076.JPG Sunday ministry was great! We started the day off with some preparations for the Kids Camp. Props, crafts, snacks, songs, and lessons were prepared.

DSC01090.JPG

Then at 9:30 we began the weekly prayer meeting. Some preparation and worship practice was going on so about 6 of us met for prayers. What an awesome experience. This is an international church where Tagalog, Sebu, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and English. I felt like I was at the Day of Pentecost.

After some coffee and fellowship (sound familiar CCAK family?) we started worship service at 10:30. It was a wonderful worship time with songs sung in English, Japanese, and Brazillian Portuguese. An audio of the message will be available at www.sermonplayer.com/cckapolei/

So that was the great ministry portion of the day.

The misery came in the form of 4 on 4 volleyball. Ouch. Actually, there was no misery, but it is so hot and humid in Japan, we thought we were dying. But it was nice to play some ball with a few Japanese friends (some of whom are not Christians). Next weekend, many more are planning to come to the volleyball game, so please keep us in prayer as we seek to use volleyball to show and share the love of Jesus.

BTW- We are too out of shape, but we put up a good fight.

I’ll also have info on the children’s camp that the rest of the team was involved in.

Blessings!

First Days in Japan

Hi Gang,

Thanks for your prayers! We all arrived safely in Japan yesterday. The LA boys also made the trip without a hitch.

DSC00995.JPG

And today we’ve already kicked things into high gear. In Shizuoka, we have less than an hour to go before our big Hawaiian Luau Dinner and Financial Seminar begins.

Sean Kleeman will be giving the financial seminar talk tonight on “Going from Success to Significance.” The kids will be ministering through ukulele, hula, and childlike faith.

Ministry began in Tokyo and maybe Brad will post for us on their ministry.

Blessings!

On the Launchpad…

Thank you for your prayers and support! おつかれさまです。

We have raised most of our support and are getting ready to go. Our final preparations are under way, we are planning for several strategic ministries, and things are looking good.

One other praise: our airfare dropped over $200 per person. How is that for God’s hand of provision? Praise God!

I’ll keep you updated.

Blessings!

Prayer Requests

Well, our team is set and preparing to go!

As we make our preparations, the primary thing of our minds has been finances.  Will we be able to fundraise enough to go.  Without giving you any platitudes about “the Lord providing”, I want to ask for everyone’s support in prayer.

Our second concern has been with what ministry will look like once we get to Japan.  Family focused ministry in Shizuoka is on track.  But college outreach in Tokyo has hit a bump in the road.  College will not be in session when we arrive which will mean very little people on campus.  We will still have numerous other ministry opportunities, but please pray that we can make a great impact with those we will meet.

Finally, pray for me that I would proclaim the gospel as I ought.  Well that worked well for Paul and I think it’s the same for myself and our team.  We want to pray and prepare to proclaim the gospel as we ought.

Blessings to you all!

=)
